STANDARDS
- Gable roofs must converge, symmetrically, to a single ridge beam at their highest point.
- Gable ends must be located toward the narrowest building face or component face, except townhouses, live-work/ flex buildings, and bungalows must have a ridge beam that is oriented parallel with the frontage.
- Civic buildings are exempt from roof system regulation, the values presented in this table are guidelines only.
- The roofs of rear additions and side wings may not exceed the roof pitch of the primary building to which they attach.
- A clipped gable is permitted with the following conditions:
- The pitch of the clipped gable should be the same as the adjacent roof pitch.
- The clipped gable should be cut no lower than half of the height of the overall end gable, as measured vertically from the eave to the roof ridge.
- The clipped gable should be employed on both gable ends of the roof.
